Numbers 27 – Zelophads Daughters and Joshua Chosen Leader. There is a truth about the Kingdom of G_d and that is, “Justice is a hallmark”. Zelophehad had passed away and left his daughters in the lurch. “Our father died in the wilderness,” they said. “He was not among Korah’s followers, who rebelled against the LORD; he died because of his sin. But he had no sons. 4 Why should the name of our father disappear from his clan just because he had no sons? Give us property along with the rest of our relatives (3-4).” G_d leaves nobody behind. The girls could have just as easily said nothing and received nothing. Jesus said, “Ask and you will receive “ (Matthew 7:7) not “riot and protest”. When we ask anything from G_d we will receive it if ask in faith. (James 1:8). One of the key requests from Moses was, “provide another leader”. Joshua was chosen by G_d before Moses’ passing. This is important to note because, when it comes to leadership, a steady consistent source is important to maintaining order and discipline.
Psalms 86 – A Psalm of David. In the time of his great failure, he became a marked man. David learned the hard way that sin can and will interrupt life as it is known. Despite the sin, David also knew the place where G_d is and went to him to ask for forgiveness. Be merciful to me, O Lord, for I am calling on you constantly. Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you. O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive, so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help. Listen closely to my prayer, O LORD; hear my urgent cry. I will call you whenever I’m in trouble, and you will answer me (3-7).
Proverbs 26 – Two Things Do Not Belong Together. Honor is no more associated with fools than snow with summer or rain with harvest (1). When you consider arrangements, they must go together. For example, “Hotdogs and cold cereal” by themselves, they are ok together they would not fit.
Matthew 22 – Parable of the Great Feast. In our work-a-day world, it is easy to let things slide and be ill-prepared. The wedding guest from the streets when asked to come to the “Royal Banquet”, did not take the time necessary to prepare his gift. Many of us get into the same boat; we call ourselves “Christians” and say, “I am going to the great wedding banquet up yonder” but we are not ready as there is still sin about us. The Sanhedrin had lived a “pseudo-Hebrew” and were the ones who gave excuses for why they should be excused from the gathering. What excuse will you give?
Revelations 9 – The First Terror the Devil is Released. Then locusts came from the smoke and descended on the earth, and they were given the power to sting like scorpions. 4 They were told not to harm the grass or plants or trees, but only the people who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads. 5 They were told not to kill them but to torture them for five months with pain like the pain of a scorpion sting. 6 In those days people will seek death but will not find it. They will long to die, but death will flee from them (3-6). One of the saddest things about life is that the person who sins gets away with it or dies before judgment. In this case, the person who chose to fight the G_d ended up paying the ultimate price and that was, “having to live with their choices”. When Zelephed sinned, his daughters almost did not get an inheritance; in the end, the daughters went to Moses to request an inheritance (Numbers 27:1-10). Ironically, the one person who chided the people into refusing Jesus’ forgiveness would also be the ones to punish them. But the people who did not die in these plagues still refused to repent of their evil deeds and turn to God. They continued to worship demons and idols made of gold, silver, bronze, stone, and wood—idols that can neither see nor hear nor walk! 21 And they did not repent of their murders or their witchcraft or their sexual immorality or their thefts (20-21). This diabolical plan would be the keystone of the world’s demise. You may wonder why on earth people would not accept Jesus’ gift. The answer is, “The Devil’s Lies” one of them is, “G_d did this to you” or “why would a loving G_d do ______.”
