Daily Psalm 5/19/2021

My strength is dried up like a fragment of clay pottery;
And my [dry] tongue clings to my jaws;
And You have laid me in the dust of death.
For [a pack of] dogs have surrounded me;
A gang of evildoers has encircled me,
They pierced my hands and my feet.
I can count all my bones;
They look, they stare at me.
They divide my clothing among them
And cast lots for my garment.
But You, O LORD, do not be far from me;
O You, my help, come quickly to my assistance (Psalms 22:15-19).

This passage was written sometime around the time of David but parallels the passion play. Like all of the Psalms, there was an impetus behind the writing but we are not told what it is only that the person had faith in Ha Shem enough to know that He, above everybody, would never abandon him. The day Jesus was crucified, it not only broke the hearts of his disciples, but it also broke the heart of G_d his Father. Because of Jesus’ sacrifice, all who believe in Him will not perish no matter how bad the situation appears to be. The thing is, if we fail to keep this mind or take our salvation lightly, we will forget the price Jesus paid and by proxy that of G_d.

Father,

I know that I have failed You many times and in many ways. Please forgive my non-sense and help me today to honor you in all that I do. May it never be said of me “Mike forgot the Lord who called him out of darkness” but that he lived for the Lord all of the days of his life. I pray for my families, law enforcement officers, EMT staff, Teachers, the city of Stacy, the State of Minnesota, and the USA. I pray a special prayer for those struggling with illnesses and situations that appear to be out of control. I pray especially for those who read this post that they would come to you and grow deeper in you.
