Daily Psalm for 4/5/2022

“Greatly have they afflicted me from my youth”—
let Israel now say—
“Greatly have they afflicted me from my youth,
yet they have not prevailed against me.
The plowers plowed upon my back;
they made long their furrows.”
The LORD is righteous;
he has cut the cords of the wicked.
May all who hate Zion
be put to shame and turned backward! Psalms 129:1-5

Being on the short end of the stick is not wrong and nor is it always “rightly deserved”.  What we do in those times and the lessons we learn from it lead us to sin or to paths of glory to G-d. Each of us can attest to how we have been passed over for promotion, times when the funds were less than what we needed, lost a job, and/or things didn’t work out as we had expected. In those times we need to learn humility so that when we are on top again, we’ll be more inclined to help people and enjoy what we are given. If we do not remember where we came from, we’ll fall into the pit called “pride and arrogance”. Being a Christian or Jew doesn’t mean that we’ll see that pit any quicker than the non-Christian or Jew because it is a universal pit that doesn’t favor one person over another.

Thank you above all things for your son Jesus who walked this land and showed the pathway to righteousness by blazing it. He did not demand things reserved for kings, he put on a servant’s towel and ministered to the needs of his disciples. He faced numerous challenges but didn’t win all of them in fact, he lost people along the way to the cross. Yet from the gruesome cross, many millions upon millions over the last 2000 years have come to know you as Lord and Savior. Life is difficult in our world with the wars, recession, and breakdown in morals. Help me today to honor you through the rough times that when the good times come I will be thankful and walk humbly before you all of the days of my life. I pray for Ukraine and Russia that they will work through their differences and difficulties so that they come away much stronger and healthier. I pray the same for my nation, the USA, which is pressed on every side. I plead for the blood of Jesus to cover this world. I pray for your hedge of protection in this world that there will be a time of healing and restoration. I pray for my families that you will please watch over them wherever their feet may take them. I pray for the military, law enforcement, and EMT communities that you will be with every one of them and bring them safely home. I pray over our politicians that you will continue to shake them to their core with the message of the Ephod so that they fully understand who they serve. I pray for the city of Stacy, the state of Minnesota, and the USA may your Spirit fall fresh upon us. I pray for the truckers who carry supplies to our communities. I thank you for healing our land by rain that refreshes the land and the storms that shake the heart of mankind. I pray for those who need a special touch from you today. Finally, I pray that my words will always be an encouragement to all who read these words in Jesus’ name I pray. May your peace be upon my family, city, state, nation, and world. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer (Psalms 19:14).
