Shout joyfully to God, all the earth;
Sing of the honor and glory and magnificence of His name;
Make His praise glorious.
Say to God, “How awesome and fearfully glorious are Your works!
Because of the greatness of Your power Your enemies will pretend to be obedient to You (Psalms 66:1-3).
When going to church was popular, everybody wanted to tether themselves to this shooting star including politicians. When this star faded, the politicians and many others abandoned her leaving the church to grapple with the downturn in finances and some churches having to close their doors. While this may seem like a tragedy of “epic proportions”, I tend to see it as a “Gideon moment”. Gideon started off with over 32000 men and then it was dwindled down to 300 or less than a 10th of its original size (Judges 7:1-7). As the numbers decrease, the amount of work to be done increases but, when our eyes are fully fixed on the Lord and we walk in obedience to His word, I don’t believe anything is impossible.
Thank you for servants of old who have completed the impossible with the improbable for the unthankful. You don’t need numbers and nor do you need fakes. Please help me to walk in obedience to your word. Please be with my law enforcement officers, military members, politicians, city, state, and USA. May your good Spirit lead me today and always.
Sing aloud to God our strength;
Shout for joy to the God of Jacob (Israel).
Raise a song, sound the timbrel,
The sweet-sounding lyre with the harp.
Blow the trumpet at the New Moon,
At the full moon, on our feast day.
For this is a statute for Israel,
An ordinance of the God of Jacob (Psalm 81:1-4).
In scripture, it is recorded “Sing a new song unto the Lord” (Psalms 96:1). But what does that mean? Does it mean “Fake til you make it”? Certainly not! To sing a new song is to change the music of our life from “I am defeated” to “I am redeemed by the Lord”. Singing aloud to the Lord is to give words to our pains and sorrows like Jesus did the night in the garden. When we refused to be beaten down by the Devil, his sad music will hold no power over us.
I pray for my families, my law enforcement officers, EMTs, the military, my city, my state, my United States. The enemy has said, “I will parcel out the US” but you said, “these are my people and though they are defeated, they can rise again. May your good Spirit lead me and my families today and every day
They provoked Him to anger at the waters of Meribah,
So that it went hard with Moses on their account;
Because they were rebellious against His Spirit,
Moses spoke recklessly with his lips.
They did not destroy the [pagan] peoples [in Canaan],
As the LORD commanded them,
But they mingled with the [idolatrous] nations
And learned their ways,
And served their idols,
Which became a [dreadful] snare to them (Psalms 106:32-36).
The “waters of Meribah” refers to the time when the people cried out for water and Moses was told, “speak to the rock”. Instead of speaking to the rock, Moses said “must we bring water out from the rock” and then hit the rock. After hitting the rock, water flowed from it and the people’s thirst was quenched (Numbers 20:1-13). While this may seem to be a silly qualm and it would completely unnecessary for having Moses die before the entrance to the land, consider the implication – this act elevated Moses in the sight of the people instead of the LORD G_d. Unfortunately, the people didn’t learn anything from the incident and would continue to be disobedient after entering Canaan. Discipline says, “you may not agree with me but trust me I will not mislead you.” For this reason when we are delivered from whatever hell hole we were in, it is up to us to either listen to the LORD or stay where we were.
As I come before you today, I pray that my eyes and ears be open to what you have to say to me. Each time we are delivered from a situation and we go back to it, the length of time we deal with the situation becomes longer. Help me to be obedient in that I do. I pray for my Law Enforcement officers, EMTs, military, family, friends, that you will be with them wherever they are. I pray for those who are ill and dealing with crisis situations. Into your hands, I commit my day.
Therefore (because of the revolt against G_d by making the golden image) He said He would destroy them, [And He would have done so] had not Moses, His chosen one, stepped into the gap before Him, To turn away His wrath from destroying them (Psalms 106:13-21).
The Israelites had been released from slavery in Egypt by the hand of the Lord. Moses had been told in advance what would happen and it did despite Moses. Yet, the same nation that G_d had told their ancestor “I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you” were disobedient, whining about one thing and then another, revolting over squabbles and misunderstandings. Moses was told, “Let me destroy them and I will make you into a great nation” but Moses interceded for them or “stood in the gap” (Exodus 32:9-13).
Thank you for your enduring Word although thousands of years old, it is still viable, still breathing, and still sharper than any dual-edged blade. Your prophets of old stood in the gap for the nation so that it would not be destroyed. When we do not stand in the gap for our family, our nation, and our world, we tell you in unspoken words “I really don’t care” and then you destroy. I pray for my families, my police, my EMTs, my military. my city, my state, my US, and my world. May your peace be upon my world today
Our fathers in Egypt did not understand nor appreciate Your miracles;
They did not remember the abundance of Your mercies nor imprint Your lovingkindness on their hearts, But they were rebellious at the sea, at the Red Sea. Nevertheless, He saved them for His name’s sake, That He might make His [supreme] power known. He rebuked the Red Sea, and it dried up, And He led them through the depths as through a pasture. So He saved them from the hand of the one that hated them And redeemed them from the hand of the [Egyptian] enemy. And the waters covered their adversaries; Not one of them was left. Then Israel believed in [the validity of] His words; They sang His praise (Psalms 106 7-12).
When we recount the days of life, the number of times we fell, the pain we caused our LORD every time we sinned, and/or stamped our feet and cried “it’s unfair”, we might wonder why G_d even loves us. Yet no matter how bad the day was yesterday, He still loves us today and still wants us to be part of his Kingdom not because He is driven by “numbers” but because He made us and is our Father. The Devil will always tell us, “you really did it this time” and “there is no coming back from this” knowing full well that the sin is a “smokescreen” meant to shroud our view and fill our sinuses.
You are an awesome G_d. All who come to you, you receive, all who ask for forgiveness are forgiven, and/or all who turn back to the cross are covered in the blood of the lamb. May your good Spirit guide us today. Please be with my families, my law enforcement officers, EM teams, military, my city, my state, and my United States. I remember those who are enduring illness and pain today may the balm of Gilead heal them today.
Praise the LORD! (Hallelujah!)
Oh give thanks to the LORD, for He is good;
For His mercy and lovingkindness endure forever!
Who can put into words the mighty deeds of the LORD?
Or who can proclaim all His praise [that is due Him]?
Blessed are those who observe justice [by honoring God’s precepts],
Who practice righteousness at all times (Psalms 106:1-3).
Our life’s testimony is best spoken by those who have watched us. Consider the Gospels, they were written by the Apostles after Jesus had left the earth. The power of scripture is not captured in the name “Bible” but in the power of transformed lives (Matthew 11:4-6).
Help me to live “Holy unto the LORD” by my words and actions. Help me to listen to your word and walk in the light of it. Thank you for all that you do in and through my life and that of my family. Please be with my law enforcement officers, EMT, military, politicians, families, people of Minnesota, the US, and the world around us.
Have You not rejected us, O God?
And will You not go out with our armies?
Give us help against the enemy,
For the help of man is worthless (ineffectual, without purpose).
Through G_d, we will have victory,
For He will trample down our enemies (Psalms 60:10-12).
One of the many great battles we will face is, “the battle over the flesh”. It is a lie of the Devil to believe that being a Christian means, “never struggling with the will” and, “bringing the flesh under control should be easy”. When people struggle with the flesh and lose, he/she will become despondent and think, “what’s the use? I’m just no good to the Kingdom of G_D!” The next thing that happens is that people walk away from fellowship and live in Moab (Ruth 1:1). There is victory in the LORD though if we can just hold on a little while longer. Victory does not come because of who we are, who we profess as LORD, and/or whose Kingdom we chose to be a part of; victory comes through obedience and faithfulness.
Help me to always be obedient to you in all that I do. Help to hold onto your hand until the day you guide me into your kingdom. Help me to test my ways and always turn to the LORD (Lamentations 3:40). Please be with my Police officers, my Politicians, my military members and their families, the people of MN, and my nation. Thank you for my family and families.
My mouth shall tell of Your righteousness
And of Your [deeds of] salvation all day long,
For their number is more than I know.
I will come with the mighty acts of the Lord GOD [and in His strength];
I will make mention of Your righteousness, Yours alone.
O God, You have taught me from my youth,
And I still declare Your wondrous works and miraculous deeds (Psalms 71:15-17).
When G_d moves in our life, He opens doors that we never knew were possible. The mighty acts of the LORD are our testimony (Revelations 12:11) and it is the power that breaks the Devil’s stronghold on lives. When we tell about the power and authority of Christ and offer not a single shred of evidence, it is likened to a screen door on a submarine, it is useless to a purpose. This is part of the reason why people fail when testifying. When our mouths utter lies and our actions defy our words, people compare walking with Jesus to walking in the world and see no difference. No matter when we come to salvation or the things He helped us through, it can go in that little bit of strength, He will grant us the strength and encouragement we need to climb any mountain, defeat any fear, and/or break through any vice (Judges 6:14).
Thank you for all that you do in and through my life and that of my family and families. Help me daily to walk in you and to refuse to give up when I step into traps. The Devil is always at work, always ready to offer some distorted truth. for that reason, help me to listen to you with my Spiritual heart and with my spiritual eyes open (1 Peter 5:8). You call us to be the head, not the tail but our choices put us in of the two positions (Deuteronomy 28:13). For this reason, help me to ever seek to honor you and praise you throughout my day.
O my God, in You I [have unwavering] trust [and I rely on You with steadfast confidence], Do not let me be ashamed or my hope in You be disappointed; Do not let my enemies triumph over me. Indeed, none of those who [expectantly] wait for You will be ashamed; Those who turn away from what is right and deal treacherously without cause will be ashamed (humiliated, embarrassed) (Psalms 25:2-3).
Walking in obedience to the LORD does not mean that “we’ll never see trials or temptations”. It means, that no matter how bad things get, G_d will never abandon us. The Devil will always use the situations that come against us to challenge our faith. If the Devil can get a foothold on our lives, he will continue to take little pieces away from us until we are not sure which way to turn or who to trust. G_d has absolute faith in us and never gives up on us until we turn our backs on Him.
Help me and my readers today and every day to trust in you and never give up no matter how high the waters get. May your good Spirit be with us always until the end of our lives and then we are welcomed into your eternal kingdom. Thank you for Jesus the First Son of Righteousness and our elder brother. Be with my families, my law enforcement officers, EMTs, and politicians.
To You belongs silence [the submissive wonder of reverence], and [it bursts into] praise in Zion, O God; And to You, the vow shall be performed. O You who hear prayer, To You all mankind comes. Wickedness and guilt prevail against me; Yet as for our transgressions, You forgive them [removing them from Your sight] (Psalms 65:1-3).
Being forgiven of the sins that offend G_d is not done because we were worthy of it. Rather, they were forgiven because of the cross. When Jesus went to the cross over 2000 years ago, either he had to die or the priests would have to confess their sinfulness to Ceasar and be rightfully crucified (John 11:50). Jesus was the “scapegoat” (Leviticus 16:10) and the Sanhedrin laid all of their sins on Jesus. Later in time members of the Sanhedrin joined the burgeoning movement of Christianity without having once confessed their sins (Acts 7:51-54). Since that fatal day, many have come to Jesus and like the Sanhedrin rode the bandwagon until its popularity waned and then they jumped off because it no longer suited their purpose. The thing is that for as many that jumped off, many more have come to the light to have their transgressions forgiven and passed the light to a new generation. Which group are you going to be in? In the words of John the Baptist “Prepare ye the way of the LORD make straight pathways through the dire mess of your life and reach out for peace by letting go of the hatred, bitterness, and bigotry (John 1:23).
You gave your word and it became flesh and dwelled among us. Darkness can not extinguish the light no matter how hard it tries (John 1:1-4). Through the dire situation of war, famine, plague, pandemic, and fear your light shines brightly for all the ships that are lost in the storms. My prayer today is for peace in my state, my USA, and the world around me. I know there are those in this world that want nothing to do with peace because it means they will lose whatever ground they think have gained. You O LORD are Sovereign in that you are not tied to one denomination, one people, one nation, or one class. I pray for my officers of the law and EMT, the families of George Floyd, Daunte Wright, our military members that are spread across the nation, and our elected officials. When we come to the light of your presence, the dark truths of our life and that of our nation will come to the surface so that they can be cleansed and healing can begin. Ma you be pleased with me today in Jesus’ Name.
Be gracious to me, O God, be gracious and merciful to me,
For my soul finds shelter and safety in You,
And in the shadow of Your wings, I will take refuge and be confidently secure
Until destruction passes by.
I will cry to God Most High,
Who accomplishes all things on my behalf [for He completes my purpose in His plan] (Psalms 57:1-2).
David had been promised the throne of Israel years before Saul died (1 Samuel 16:13). Although the anointment was on David and had been removed from Saul, David remained faithful to the LORD and respected King Saul (1 Samuel 24). David would not be crowned king over Judah until 15 years later and then would be crowned king over Israel after Saul had died in battle. Because David had done nothing to jeopardize the promise, he had protected Saul even though David was the better man, and he wanted patiently for the hand of the LORD to move, David had the confidence to seek G_d in the time G_d’s favor and G_d answered with mighty acts of power (Psalms 20:6).
You promised us a Savior who would save the nation and the world. We did not need to go looking for the Savior, he met us and chose us for His purpose. May your good Spirit be the light in my life that leads me through the trials and temptations that I may be a “Man after your own heart” just King David and King Jesus.
Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness; According to the greatness of Your compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my wickedness and guilt And cleanse me from my sin. For I am conscious of my transgressions and I acknowledge them; My sin is always before me (Psalms 51:1-3).
it is easy to quote the tired refrain “Nobody is without sin” (1 John 1:8). This passage does not absolve us of sin and it is not a “safe harbor”. David’s actions led the peaceful nation to the brink of civil war and his actions would be felt in the family for over 300 years. David’s sin with Bathsheba was just the “foot in the door” for the Devil who would cajole David into hiding his sin by having Uriah put to death. Those that read David’s account may shake their heads at him but understand, the Devil always starts at our weakness and works further to destroy us..
Thank you for your mercy and your forgiveness. I am not perfect and I admit that. Help me also to keep my eyes open to see where sin will lead me that I will not need to go down David’s pathway.
In Your Service
The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and the One who rescues me;
My God, my rock and strength in whom I trust and take refuge;
My shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower—my stronghold.
I call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised;
And I am saved from my enemies (Psalms 18:2-3).
When we are in trouble, we make promises to G_d like, “if you will rescue me I will do _____.” When the trouble passes, though, we forget our promise intentionally. The reason we do this is that we do not see how it is possible that G_d did ____ when it was done by someone else’s hand. The conventional wisdom of mankind is “If I can’t see G_d, how can I know He is actually working on my behalf”? David’s service to the LORD got him through some of the deepest and darkest times of his life as well as the mountain top experiences. In the same way in our life, when set our heart on pilgrimage to the Kingdom of G_d, the Devil will come in to challenge our belief system just like Job was challenged.
Thank you for who you are, for what you do in our lives, and how you build and develop us through trials, temptations, and the overcoming power of the cross. We are not perfect people just because we set our heart on pilgrimage or call ourselves “Christians, any more than David was perfect because he was called “a man after G_D own heart” (1 Samuel 13:13-14). When Jesus went to the cross, it was not taken lightly because it cost him everything so we should never take that step lightly either. May your good Spirit lead us today and every day. Be with those who have special needs today.
In Your Service
Your throne, G_d, is forever and ever;
the scepter of Your kingdom is a scepter of justice.
You love righteousness and hate wickedness;
therefore G_d, your G_d, has anointed you with the oil of joy
more than your companions.
Myrrh, aloes, and cassia perfume all your garments;
from ivory palaces, harps bring you joy.
Kings’ daughters are among your honored women;
the queen adorned with gold from Ophir
stands at your right hand (Psalms 45:6-9).
This is called the “Grand Wedding March”. it is the marriage between the LORD and his people. Jesus is not with us “physically” but he does live vicariously through us and we show respect for him by adhering to his commands, decrees, and mission. In the same way, when my father died now almost 11 years ago this coming May, he would no longer be with us physically but he lives through his children by the spiritual representation in their lives, their physical skills, their demeanor, and the choices they make. When I say with pride, “I am a child of G_d”, I need to question everything about my life to see if there is anything that offends him so that people will know “Mike is truly a Child of the Living G_D” (Psalms 139:24).
You are the G_D of millions upon millions in every generation since you first made mankind. While there are so many following you and many making a mockery of their relationship with you, you call me to follow you and live according to your word. The purpose for this is that I will live a life that I will never regret nor hang my head in shame over. I am sorry for where I have fallen short and I know that I can never undo the sins of my past but I can chart course today.
Because of the LORD’S faithful love we do not perish, for His mercies never end. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness! I say: The LORD is my portion, therefore I will put my hope in Him (Lamentations 3:122-24).
In the Service of My Saving LORD Jesus, I pray
They have surrounded me like floodwaters all day long; They have completely encompassed me. Lover and friend You have placed far from me; My familiar friends are in darkness. I will sing of the goodness and lovingkindness of the LORD forever; With my mouth, I will make known Your faithfulness from generation to generation. For I have said, “Goodness and lovingkindness will be built up forever; In the heavens [unchangeable and majestic] You will establish Your faithfulness” (Psalms 88:17- 89:2).
When walking in obedience to G_d, we need to understand that we will never be praised for it by the people we once associated with. To those still walking in darkness, we are the same man person with a different moniker. When Paul became a Christian or “follower of the way” the “sect”, the former colleagues turned their efforts toward destroying him because he was no longer one of the “ruling parties”.
Help me to walk in obedience to you all of my days. May your good spirit guide me and that my ears, mouth, and heart be open to your word so that I may grow in you. The world may not like me but I will not stand before the world, I will stand before you so I must live to please you in all that I say and do. Thank you for salvation from the things that would cause me problems.
O give thanks to the LORD, call upon His name;
Make known His deeds among the people.
Sing to Him, sing praises to Him;
Speak of all His wonderful acts and devoutly praise them.
Glory in His holy name;
Let the hearts of those who seek and require the LORD [as their most essential need] rejoice (Psalms 105:1-3).
Giving praise to G_d in every season is our utmost privilege. Singing praise when life is at its best and the wind is at our back is easy because “we have nothing to complain about” but let the tide turn and the same ground that once grew great produce now becomes feral and the praise has a way of leaking from our lives. When we complain, we surrender the joy that should be ours because we let the famine steal the joy from our lives as surely as it destroys the world.
Help me today to honor you in all that do. May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you. When the storms come, help me find shelter in you like the Prophet Elija. Please watch over my family and families today in all things may I sing your praise.
O come, let us sing joyfully to the LORD;
Let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation.
Let us come before His presence with a song of thanksgiving;
Let us shout joyfully to Him with songs.
For the LORD is a great God
And a great King above all gods,
In whose hand are the depths of the earth;
The peaks of the mountains are His also (Psalms 95:1-4).
When we sing praise to G_d in Spirit and in Truth, we rob the Devil of a victory. Singing the High Praise of G_d does mean we will not have bad days nor that we will get through life unscathed. Simply, it is turning our eyes from the problem to the solution, from the solution to the resolution! The Devil says, “you are defeated so don’t bother G_D”! But G_d says, “just hold on one more time”.
Thank you for your unmerited and undeserved grace. The Devil never gives up the attack so neither should we stop holding onto your hand. May your good spirit guide me and my families this day and always
Why do You withdraw Your hand, even Your right hand [from judging the enemy]? Remove Your hand from Your chest, destroy them! Yet God is my King of old, Working salvation in the midst of the earth. You divided the [Red] Sea by Your strength; You broke the heads of the sea monsters in the waters.
You crushed the heads of Leviathan (Egypt); You gave him as food for the creatures of the wilderness. You broke open fountains and streams; You dried up ever-flowing rivers. The day is Yours, the night also is Yours; You have established and prepared the [heavenly] light and the sun. You have defined and established all the borders of the earth [the divisions of land and sea and of the nations]; You have made summer and winter (Psalms 74:11-17).
When we seek the face of G_d, we expect that G_d will change the circumstance immediately. When He doesn’t change it according to our timeframe, the Devil uses it as a springboard to break down our faith or to generate doubt. G_d always answer prayer although we may not recognize it as an answer. David was promised the throne of Saul while he, David, was a young man; yet, he did not ascend to the throne until he was in his late 20 to early ’30s. Abraham was promised a mighty and immense nation but it did not occur until the time of Jacob and even at that, it was years past the birth of the 12 sons of Israel. It was the reason Habakkuk went to his watchtower to wait and see what the Lord will say (Habakkuk (2:1).
You answer prayer in your time. If you answered prayer according to our checklist, it would only cause problems like what happened with Abraham and Sarah. Help me to be faithful in all that I do and when you speak help me to go to my watchtower to wait and see what you will say. You are not a God that is given to favoritism like Rebekkah and you know the appropriate time for everything. Israel was sent into exile for 70 years until the land was cleansed. and you knew just when the time was right. May I be ever faithful to you Lord in all that I do. Be with my family and families today.
I will sing of the goodness and lovingkindness of the LORD forever; With my mouth, I will make known Your faithfulness from generation to generation. For I have said, “Goodness and lovingkindness will be built up forever; In the heavens [unchangeable and majestic] You will establish Your faithfulness” (Psalms 89:1-2).
Praising the Lord is more than just a song, it is a lifestyle that is predicated on “Living His principles”. When people see us, they should see a true representation of what the Christian life is all about. If our choices are no good, what comes from our life will be no good and the name we call ourselves by will be a misrepresentation. We are called to live for the Lord in Spirit and in truth, anything less than that will cause problems (John 4:24).
Help us today to live for you so that those who come after us will not have to deal with the fraudulent teachings we espoused. You are faithful just like your son and Spirit but, I’m not always as faithful as you call me to be so help me to change that daily so that my family will ever grow up in the admonition of the Lord
The earth is the LORD’S, and the fullness of it,
The world, and those who dwell in it.
For He has founded it upon the seas
And established it upon the streams and the rivers.
Who may ascend onto the mountain of the LORD?
And who may stand in His holy place?
He who has clean hands and a pure heart,
Who has not lifted up his soul to what is false,
Nor has sworn [oaths] deceitfully.
He shall receive a blessing from the LORD,
And righteousness from the God of his salvation (Psalms 24:1-5).
Because everything in this earth belongs to the Lord G_d and we are only the steward, we are responsible for his possession. G_d gives us children in the same vein and we are responsible for those children that are, for their upbringing, for providing for them and training them in the way of righteousness. What we do with G_d’s possession is how we will be judged.
Thank you for all that you put in my hands to take care of today. May you be proud of me for what I do and how I do it. Watch over my family and families in all that I do.
