Morning Encouragement for 7/12/2022

Good Morning,

As I am preparing to officiate at my son’s wedding later this year, my thoughts have turned to the subject of marriage and how I can best present it. So you, my readers, are now my sounding board.

Those of you who have developed software, built things like homes and cars, know how it is put together and what it will take to maintain it. If I wanted to know how to install a piece of software or what do when a glitch occurs, I’d go back to the company who designed it because that group would know or should know all about it; there are hacks out in our world who have found a way to hack software and they might know a thing or two but might not know its original design. In the same way, G-d ordained marriage between a man and a woman. If the intention of the this union is make it last until the day we are called home, we need to look at His design and ask Him to lead us in marriage and to submit ourselves to him and consequently to each other. if the intention is so that we can legally have the pleasure of being connected but wish to go our way, simply follow the world’s pattern. The world’s way is easy to start but difficult to navigate the maze and will always leave us broken and empty which is on purpose because its author wants us to fail. In fact, the author of the world’s way “Devil” sets us up to fail from the very beginning knowing full well that the plan will never work. The thing is, no matter where we are in life whether coming from a bad union or starting a new one, we have the choice about the life we will get. We have no authority over the world but we have full authority over our hearts.

Readings: Genesis 2:22-25, Exodus 4:9-12, John 17:13-19, Jeremiah 17:11-18, Psalm 130.

Famous Quote: You always have two choices: your commitment versus your fear.” – Sammy Davis Jr.

Father,

We need you so desperately in our world today. The world has had its hay day and lived by its autonomy only to find themselves at the bottom instead of the top. Our world is in disarray and the only way to fix it is to surrender to you. You are not a harsh task master nor are you a dictator, you are a loving G-d who cares deeply for us. There is no one who comes to you that you will not reject. You made our world so only you know how to fix it. I lift up my world before you Lord asking for your forgiveness and for your healing over our land. I pray for Ukraine, Russia, and the known world for your peace and that you will rebuild this world for your glory. I pray for the Police, EMTs, military, and Medical communities that you will watch over each of them and bring them home safely tonight.

Morning Encouragement for 7/10/2022

Good Morning,

Our world today is on a collision course that started back in the garden of Eden several millennia ago. The decision made by two people impacted an unlimited number of people throughout our history. The problems were compounded by the persuasion of one entity to draw 1/3 of Gods created beings into a revolt. On earth mankind is interlinked with the Devil as we have seen in all of the wars, revolts, fights, and bloodshed. The Lord attempted to wipe out the evil people by a flood but it did not have a lasting result. It was not until about 33AD that the collision course of sin was intercepted by the cross. Jesus’ life was for the glory of his Father in Heaven in name and in action. His death, however much pushed by the Sanhedrin, was not because he sinned but that he took on our sin so that we would not have to die physically or spiritually for them. Today many of you, just like me, have gone as far in the opposite direction of the cross only to find yourself back at the cross having come 365 degrees or full circle. I encourage you to make peace with yourself and your world today that his blood will cleanse you and make your whole again. As much as we are led to believe that our world is doomed, I will tell you that sin only holds power for a season and that there is no depths that we can go to that the Lord will not forgive if we ask him and come to our senses. I ask that everyone of you on every continent to pray for the peace of your nation and for the balm of Gilead to be applied to your nation

Readings: Psalm 122, Hebrews 12, Deuteronomy 1:37-40, John 14

Famous Quote: The world has no charms for me when I look up, but the trouble with God’s children is they do not look up enough.” – D.L. Moody

Father,

Our world is topsy-turvey today because of the choices we and those before us have made. We have fights in the streets, in our homes, schools, businesses because of “forced obedience”. I don’t know what it will take to fully heal this land but am pretty sure destroying the world will not solve the problem but will simply put it off fora little while. I pray the blood of Jesus over my nation and the world at large. you made this world so you know what it will take to restore it. Help me to be an instrument of your peace. I pray for the peace of the US today.

Morning Encouragement for 7/9/2022

Good Morning,

When I was in the 8th grade, I did very well in school with all of the credit going to my 7th grade teacher, Sr. Bernice. This nun enforced the need to develop good study habits. In the 8th grade I was on the B honor roll all year. In the ninth grade Algebra I found an easy way to pass the class because my teacher left the answers out for people to copy. In modern day circles the teacher would be blamed for encouraging cheating. I justified my actions by believing that “I knew the material just didn’t need to do the work”. What I was unaware of was that by caving into cheating, I was cheating myself and set the stage for my future.

In the same way, David was a man of integrity. From the moment of Samuel’s prophecy to the rise of his kingdom, he guarded his pathways and refused to do anything that would taint his rule. All was going well until “the spring of the year when kings go to war, he stayed home” (2 Samuel 11:1). We are not told why David stayed home, The decision to stay home set the stage for the troubles that would befall his family for the foreseeable future. You see, nobody is impenetrable to temptation not even the great David. The Devil is not to blame for tempting us, we are to blame for caving into temptation.

Readings: 2 Samuel 11, Ephesians 6, Matthew 26:36-46, Psalm 125, Proverbs 7.

Famous Quote: “I can resist everything except temptation” (Oscar Wilde)

Father,

Each of us has areas in our life where we are wooed by temptation. This does not mean that we “are worthless” but that we are human. The testing of our metal is never made when we are at the top of our game, it is always when we are bored or have put ourselves in a compromising position such as the young man in Proverbs 7. Please help me today to keep your commands and precepts before me to meditation on them, and walk in the truth. .I pray for my nation today for your forgiveness and healing over the land. Fathers we have taken your blessings and our freedom for granted and have offended the throne. Please forgiveness and heal our land. We have walked in abject sin under the guise of our liberties please forgive us and heal our land. Thank you for rain and I pray for it abundantly to heal our parched land, refill our lakes and restore peace to our land. I pray for my people and for peace in our land.

Morning Encouragement for 7/7/2022

Good Morning, wow we’re already about 1/2 way through July. Summer is passing by quickly.

one single most important part of encouragement is that we encourage growth by developing truth in people’s lives. There is a difference between telling the truth as we know it and looking in a mirror to see the truth as it is. Of course, truth is not as popular as flattery because, when we hear and/or see the truth we must do something with it. The example, as James put it “we look in a mirror and then turn around forget what we saw”. Just as G-d uses a mirror so does the Devil except his is a “fun house mirror” or the type that amplifies or negative features to defeat us and a amplified positive to scratch our ego; both ends of the spectrum are self-defeating.

It is for these reasons that we need to stay in the word so that we will always remember that the world does not spin around us and that the secret to our success is not based on positional authority but on the grounds of obedience.

Readings: James 1:19-27, Proverbs 22:4-14, John 15:14-16, Psalms 1, Deuteronomy 17:14-20

Famous Quote: Choices will continually be necessary and — let us not forget — possible. Obedience to God is always possible. It is a deadly error to fall into the notion that when feelings are extremely strong we can do nothing but act on them.”
― Elisabeth Elliot, Discipline: The Glad Surrender

Father,

Being obedient to you is not a brainless option, it requires us to think through what is presented and compare it to the light of your word. Equally as servants of G-d, we are not mindless minions surrendering our free-will to a faceless god, as the world blithely puts it. By working with you and allowing you to work in us, our lives are built on the solid unloveable rock of Jesus Christ. We do not follow every whim of doctrine but remain loyal to your word so that we discover the lies that ever present in our world and about our lives. Please help me today to stay in your word that I will know the truth and be set free from the lies. I pray for my family today that you will watch over them and keep them wherever they may go. I pray for my city, state, and nation Lord that you would continue to rattle the cages of the politicians that they will be confronted with the truth and that they would have no room to run, I pray for our world Lord in the times of your favor.

Morning Encouragement for 7/5/2022

Good Morning,

Years ago, I attended a science presentation. The presenter divided the audience into two groups. One half were told to close their eyes and the presenter showed a picture that we were to commit to memory. Then, the first group closed their eyes and the 2nd opened theirs and he again showed the picture but from a different angle. The difference in the angle changed how the picture looked. In the same way, when we look at sin and forgiveness. Through sin’s eyes all we can see is “this is how I am and I always will be. I need ___ because it helps me.” Through forgiveness’ eyes, we see that __ is not our help it hinders us and therefore has to go.” Our flesh is not changed through forgiveness, we will still bear the wounds of our past but they remind us of how far we have come and the power of the cross over our life.

Readings: John 3:1-8, Galatians 2:20, Psalm 51

Famous Quote: “When I was young I thought it was hard that I had lost my father, but now I believe I would not be where I am if I had not been thrown on to myself early in life…” (D.L. Moody).

Father,

I wish it were possible to heal our wounds and make our lives as though we never sinned but then, as the Psalmist put it, “My people will forget”. When people review my life, I want it to be a journey from sin to the kingdom. Please help me today to live for you and see the work you are doing in my life. I pray for healing over my nation from shore to shore, from the north to the south, and from the east to the west. I pray for our EMTs, Police, Military, and Medical communities that you would watch over them and keep them. With the world up in arms, now is the time for the captives to be set free.

Morning Encouragement for 7/4/2022

Good Morning and again Happy Fourth of July

Doubtless many of you have heard the phrases or have said it your self “Freedom in Christ Jesus” and “freedom isn’t free”. We are reminded to thank our vets for defending our freedoms. The problem is, I believe we are thanking the wrong people not taking anything away from our vets and those currently serving in the military because they too have done the unthankful job of serving our country. The people we should really be thanking are those who fought for our independence over 200 years ago and about 50 years from 300 years ago. How do we thank those who gave their lives for freedom? By pilgrimaging to their burial sites? Say a loud “thanks”? Or, as I believe is necessary, to respect our freedoms by not taking them for granted?

In the same way, we have freedoms in Christ Jesus because of his work on the cross over 2000 years ago. Jesus could have quite easily have said “the price is too great. I’ll just disappear until I die”. The thing is, though, he saw you, me, all those who came before us, and all those who will come after us and knew that no matter how painful and disgusting the whole ordeal would be, he would willingly pay the price. He doesn’t want our adulations, pilgrimages to his birthplace, and/or “Jesus is #1” stickers on our cars. While those things are outward signs and nothing wrong with them, what is important is that we respect the freedoms we have in Jesus Christ. If we trip over this rock, believe me no one else that comes after us will ever know the price he paid for our life. Then, that freedom will be taken away as people follow others into the lion den of “government control”.

Readings: Hebrews 12, Galatians 5, Isaiah 42:1-6, Deuteronomy 30:19-20, Psalms 21, Proverbs 22:4-14

Famous Quote: He who wants what God wants of him will lead a free and happy life. ~ (Japanese Proverb).

Father,

The gifts that come from you are good gifts because it cost you everything. We cannot comprehend the full measure of the price Jesus paid because we were not there that fateful day. We did not hear the cries as the nails were pounded into his wrists nor his feet. We did not hear the cries each time the cat-a-ninetails landed on his back tearing away the skin leaving welts and blood spewing from the wounds. We did not witness the crown of thorns being planted on his head in mock tribute. Today people have come from all walks of life to hear the salvation story that will set them free from the bondage of sin. The blood Jesus shed 2000 years ago is as healing and restoring it was that fateful day. Please help me today and every day to savor this freedom and never take it for granted. Please be with our EMTs, Police, military, clergy wherever they go and grant each of them safe passage where they are going and when they return; please help them to make wise choices that they not be a negative example. Please watch over this nation and forgive our sins. Jesus we need you now more than ever. I pray for my city, state, nation, and world at large.

Morning Encouragement for 7/3/2022

Good Morning and Happy Fourth of July

Tomorrow is “Independence day” that celebrates the USA’s independence from England in 1775. The dictionary defines independence as: “The state or quality of being independent; freedom from dependence; exemption from reliance on, or control by others; self-subsistence or maintenance; direction of one’s own affairs without interference”. The problem is, when we take our salvation and independence for granted, we forget the struggle it took to get us where we are and we end up going back where we were. The same thing can be said of our salvation. When we come to the Lord, confess our sins and accept His forgiveness, our heart is opened to new possibilities that says, “I don’t want to live under the oppression of the world’s ways”. With this “new heart” and the motivation of the Spirit of G-d we make our journey from the fields of Moab to Kingdom of Zion or “New Jerusalem”. Let this day be day to give thanks for your “Independence”..

Readings: John 8:31-32, Joshua 18, Psalm 27,

Famous Quote: Freedom means you are unobstructed in living your life the way you chose, anything less is a form of slavery. Wayne Dyer.

Father,

Your greatest desire for our lives is that would be free from the binds of slavery. While we may not wear physical shackles, we do wear spiritual shackles that put limitations on our dreams, goals, and desires. In the public eye, we declare our “rights” but in private we languish in sin while we hold the keys to our cell door. This kind of living leaves broken hearts, squashed dreams, and doubt filled hearts. I pray for the lives that have sought salvation thru the world’s ways not knowing the power that is theirs’ through the power of prayer. Please watch over our nation and heal it by the power of the Holy Spirit of G-d.. I pray for the military, EMTs, and service industries. May this day be a new day for those who come to you.

Morning Encouragement for 7/2/2022

Good Morning,

In many ways our lives are like a garden. If we put nothing into developing skills, relationships, and/or ministry we get nothing from life and become bored. Because we are responsible for our lives, we are the ones that must remove the rocks, cultivate the soil, and plant seeds according to their requirements. Remember, when G-d calls us to do anything, it is always in rough shape which requires that we supply the labor to build it. Although people may come alongside to help us the ultimate control is on our shoulders.

Readings: Genesis 6:14-41, Luke 13:16-19, 1 Corinthians 3:10-23, Psalms 82, Proverbs 24:30-34.

The expectations of life depend upon diligence; the mechanic that would perfect his work must first sharpen his tools. Confucius

Father,

Thank you for this beautiful season. As I look over my life, I pray that you will continue to guide my life. Help me to develop the land you have given me. I pray that my words will encourage people in their walk with you. I pray for our EMTs, Police, Military, Ministers, and service professionals that you will be with each of them. I pray continually that you will heal this land as only you know what it is going to take. Be with my readers today and everyday.

Morning Encouragement for 6/28/2022

Good Morning,

When we ask the Lord to teach us His ways, we owe it to Him to be prepared to learn that is, coming to class with pen, paper, and a willing mind to learn. G-d’s classroom is not like the world’s classroom because it has no formal lecture halls nor ominous written tests. His classroom is the world around us, the trials, and temptations. When the Lord commands us to do something, He will never tell us “why” or “what lies behind ___”. Remember this, the Lord always has sound logic behind His commands, precepts, and laws. Understand, His laws and precepts were not written off the top of His head, they stem from the actions Israel’s ancestors. When we follow in His footsteps, we find out why the laws are in place or why He wanted us to do ______ in a specific manner. So, this all comes down to the word “trust”. The thing is, “trust” doesn’t come naturally for everybody, some trust implicitly and are let down, others do not trust and therefore never come to the Lord. At either end of the spectrum there are problems but the Lord knows about them and is patient with us through the journey.

Readings: Micah 6:6-8, Psalms 25:1-10, Proverbs 3,

Famous Quote: “I believe that Christians often perceive obedience to G-d as some test designed just to see if we are really committed to Him. But what if it is designed as G-d’s way of giving what’s best for us? Craig Croeschel.

Father,

Learning from You is a lifetime degree plan. Having you as a teacher requires that we be punctual, attentive listeners, and faithful students. Being a lackluster student will get us by in the world’s system because it accepts excuses where as You know our heart, what we are capable of, and you accept no substitutes. Please help me today to be faithful in all that I do and to write what you will have me to know and pass down. I pray for our nation today Lord as the economy is tanking, political parties are pointing fingers, and excusing bad behavior is the norm. I know that you still love us and you love this nation. I pray Lord over the wars that are spinning up, the magnitude of the droughts that are spreading across this nation. I pray for rain that will heal this land and overcome the divide. I pray for our EMTS, police, military, and those in the service industry. You are Lord of All

Morning Encouragement for 6/27/2022

Good Morning,

When we come to the cross, we must understand that it is by grace not by an obligation that we are saved. All who come to the Lord to learn of Him must first realize that the pathway that he/she has been on doesn’t work that something in our life is broken and that we are powerless to fix it. The Lord, unlike the world, does not use us, He heals us and restores us and for this reason, our eyes need to be on Him and we need to listen and be obedient. Recognizing our brokenness is a humbling experience because it means taking stock of where we are in life and is the part that keeps us from coming to the Lord. After all, no one likes to admit that he/she is wrong. When we refuse to acknowledge that we were wrong and dig our heels further into the mud, the Lord turns up the heat until we reach our breaking point. For the young man in Luke 15:11, his breaking point was in the pigpen looking down at the pigs’ evening meal while his stomach was growling due to starvation. The question we need to ask ourselves is, “how long will we stay in our pigpen?”

Readings: Psalms 25:11-18, Luke 15:11-24, Micah 6:6-8, Romans 3:21-26, Proverbs 28:13.

Famous Quote: I am convinced what this world wants is true men and women, not great men, but true and honest and upright persons that God can use…

Father,

Above all things You are Holy. I am not better than anyone who is forgiven or unforgiven because I bear your name. To this world, I am no one special because I am not listed among the great men and women who have done extraordinary things. In Your eyes, though, I am loved and forgiven because I came to you not to demand anything from you but to ask for your forgiveness. Being forgiven did not make the messes I created disappear rather, it brought the issues front and center as a “to-do list to fix”. The people I have offended may not forgive me nor give me the time of day but you read my heart and know the truth. Help me today to always forgive from the heart without expecting anything in return but peace in Your eternal Kingdom. I pray for the military, law enforcement, and EMT communities that you will be with every one of them and bring them safely home. I pray over our politicians that you will continue to shake them to their core with the message of the Ephod so that they fully understand who they serve. I pray for the city of Stacy, the state of Minnesota, and the USA may your Spirit fall fresh upon us. I pray for the truckers who carry supplies to our communities. I thank you for healing our land by rain that refreshes the land and the storms that shake the heart of mankind. I pray for those who need a special touch from you today. Finally, I pray that my words will always be an encouragement to all who read these words in Jesus’ name I pray. May your peace be upon my family, city, state, nation, and world. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer (Psalms 19:14).

Morning Encouragement for 6/26/2022

Good Morning,

As parents, we have the power to influence our children for a short period before peer pressure and social norms invade their minds. It is incumbent on us as parents and leaders to walk in obedience to the Lord not out of rote but out of love for the Lord. We may not be successful but in the court of the Lord, we will not be held guilty of the blood that will be shed. As children, we may not like what we are told because it doesn’t agree with our peer groups and, at times, parental wisdom is likened to a double-edged sword that cuts between soul and spirit. When the two parts are divided, the truth of every matter comes to light both for the child and the adult; without the division, the matter gets clouded and leads to confusion. Consider this, when we go looking at a new car, the car is clean, it has the “new car smell” the reason for the aroma is to get the buyer dreaming, add in some bells and whistles like navigation, and the buyer is hooked. The dealer’s job is to find out what the buyer is looking for and who has the “authority to buy” armed with this information he/she will wrap the car to fit the mold of the “buyer’s needs”. When the buyer decides that “this is the car I want” he/she is brought before the “finance officer”. This is the part where the two halves are divided and the buyer sees the “real numbers” and decides whether or not the car is worth the debt involved. In the same way, the Devil presents an idea to us for consideration. The idea is full of bells and whistles that will stop working when we need them the most. For this reason, we need to divide the “soul and spirit” so that we do not go down the wrong pathway.

Readings: Hebrew 4:12-13, John 14:34-35, Psalms 23, 1 Kings 18:20-40

Morning Encouragement for 6/25/2022

Good morning,

when we were formed in the womb, we were made in the image of a Holy G-d. Part of our makeup is the “conscience”. The conscience will either keep us out of trouble or be our most ardent foe depending on how we use it. The thing is, we can shut our conscience off merely by ignoring it. The problem is, that our conscience also replays our errors through dreams, scents, and words. We may wear pretty designed badges of courage and conviction like, “I’m Pastor ___” or, “I am ___”. The problem is, when those badges cover up the wounds of sin, they will eventually fall down and reveal the necrotic, festers, and foul-smelling wound. When the wound becomes too necrotic, it can mean that the wound will need to be amputated. It is for this reason, I believe, Jesus was so strict about sin. G-d is not a “Party Pooper” who looks down his nose on sin and sniffs in contempt at us, He loves us and wants to have “Life and that more abundantly”. Sin destroys everything in its path like a fire that never says, “enough”.

Readings: John 10:7-18, Matthew 21:33-44, Proverbs 28:2-14, Jeremiah 6:14-15, Psalms 94:18-23

Father,

Thank you for the power to overcome every challenge that faces me today. whenever the Devil comes in like a roaring wind, you set up a standard against him that gives us the power and authority to stand on your word. I may not always succeed but I will always have the power to get backup and move on. it is not by might nor by power but my Spirit sayeth the Lord. Morning Encouragement for 6/21/2022

Good Morning,

With summer in full swing, Minnesota is entering its 5th season of the year “Road Construction” which will last until late October. During road closures, drivers are given an alternate route that may or may not be faster. The thing about road construction is that it is rarely done on one side of the road for the most part, both sides of the road are worked on one side at a time. When the drivers are first rerouted, people complain about the inconvenience. The reason for this is that the change disrupts “the norm”. After a while, people get into the swing of things and life goes merrily onward. When the construction is completed, we find the road that was once rough is now smooth and traffic flows freely. The newly rebuilt road might include a “round about”, an extra lane, or an HOV lane. These changes alter the flow of traffic which might create confusion but, like the alternate routes, through time and patience we get used to these changes.

In the same way, there are roads in our life that also need repairs, friendships that have strained due to disagreements, and family units that have been torn apart by fights and disagreements. Restoring these connections is painful because it requires us coming to our senses and both sides need to talk through the difficulties. Unfortunately there are times when no matter how much we try to restore a connection with a friend or family member it doesn’t work out. For this, we need to give time for the pathway to be rebuilt by the power of the Holy Spirit and the help of Godly counselors. Just as it is with the example above, the changes disrupt lives. The good news is that in time the construction will end and life will go on. Have patience my friends.

Readings: Lamentations 3:25-33, Hebrews 10, Ephesians 4:1-6, Psalms 37:1-9.

Famous Quote: The two most powerful warriors are Patience and Time (Leo Tolstoy).

Father,

I am often impatient when the paths I take by route are disrupted. I know that nothing lasts forever and that changes will always occur so please help me to remain calm through the changes. Sometimes I get so locked up in myself that I forget that people change and that the way “we always did it” might wrong. Help me to welcome the change of seasons with eager expectation of the good that will come with it. I pray for our EMTs, Police, teachers, ministers, and military that you will please watch over them. Thank you for all that you do in and through my life.

Morning Encouragement for 6/19/2022

Good morning and Happy Father’s Day

Dr. Abraham Maslow developed a figurative pyramid of human needs. His theory is that there are 5 things humankind needs on a daily basis to survive. The one area that I do not feel is properly addressed is “encouragement”. People can go all of their lives having friends, family, food, a job,and the ability to reach their goals and yet, while happy, they are not content. The reason I feel that is, is because we fall into pigeon holes, develop the wrong kinds of friends, encouraged to misuse our G-d given talents, and give way to sin. It is for this reason we have the Holy Spirit of G-d to be that “firm hand on our shoulder” teaching the ways of the Father, and being the “gentle voice” that says “You can do all things …”. In turn we need to be the “voice of encouragement” to our spouse, our children and grand children, and friends that speaks uplifting words not as flattery but as a sincere word and then we need to come along side of them to help them. I want to encourage you today with the words of scripture and a voice through written word how much and how sincerely G-d loves you. Happy Father’s Day.

Readings: Philippians 4:2-9, 1 Kings 19, Joshua 1, Psalms 24, Proverbs 11:27-31.

Famous quote: “If I know my own heart to-day, I would rather die than live as I once did, a mere nominal Christian, and not used by God in building up his kingdom. It seems a poor empty life to live for the sake of self. Let us seek to be useful. Let us seek to be vessels meet for the Master’s use, that God, the Holy Spirit, may shine fully through us.” (D.L. Moody).

Father,

Encouragement is like fresh water to a seedling. Depending on the quality of the water, its source, and its intended purpose, the plant will either grow or die. You planted us here on earth uplift one another but the Devil, knowing the end result, came in with the notion of us being a god in and of ourselves. Today our world is shattered by violence both local and abroad. If ever there was a time that we need to hear from Heaven it is now. Please help me to be a voice of encouragement using the water from Heaven, and nutrients of your word that a generation may grow up knowing You. Please watch over my family, friends, city, state, and US. I lift up a special prayer for our elected leaders that their hearts be softened and their mind opened to what they are doing and shake them to their core. I ask for your protection over our EMTs, police, teachers, and ministers. Thank you for everything you do.

Morning Encouragement for 6/18/2022

Good Morning,

The word “futility” which means “pointless” or “useless” is found in Ecclesiastes. When you read the book, it might appear that no matter what you do, it will all end in futility. Some say “I’ll live according to G-d’s laws because I want to go to Heaven”. Others might say, “why live for the Lord when your time is so short?”. The thing is, how we live today, how we treat ourselves, and the respect with have for the Sovereign G-d benefits us while we are alive. After we are gone, the pathways we lay will light the way for our children and grand children.

Readings: Hebrews 4, Psalms 95, Matthew 6:28-34,

Famous Quote: “In the place God has put us he expects us to shine, to be living witnesses, to be a bright and shining light. While we are here our work is to shine for him.” – D.L. Moody

Father,

Thank you for this new day. Help me to live for you where I am and use the skills you have given me. Please be with my friends and families, my city, state, and nation and world at large. You tell me “do not be afraid no matter what the world says and not to harden my heart and because you and I are in a covenant relationship I know that you have already provided a way through every storm. I pray for our EMTs, elected politicians, and police forces that you will be with each of them where they are and wherever they go.

Morning Encouragement for 6/13/2022

Good Morning,

When I reviewed the morning paper today, I read about the bad things that were going on, one-sided attacks, and public response. As I have mentioned many times over, the Devil uses these times and retelling of the sad tale to get us to take our eyes off on our champion Jesus Christ. The reason the Devil is so effective at what he does is that he appeals to our emotions and, believe me, no one is immune to his attacks even the strongest and most loyal disciple. Consider how a Used Car Dealer works up sales by finding out what our triggers are, who has the “authority to buy”, and what our needs are by asking us questions. From the answers we give, he/she formulates a plan. The Devil has a leg up on the Used car dealer because he knows all about us, which buttons to push, and how long to push them. For this reason we need to know our buttons as well and how best to use them against the Devil.

Famous quote: “If you know your enemy and you know yourself, you will not fear a 100 battles” (Sun Tzu Treatise on the “Art of War”.

Readings: 1 Corinthians 15:55-56, Psalms 62, Luke 12:8-12, John 8:12

Father,

The Devil is a liar and he comes steal kill, and destroy but you have overcome the world. There is no good news in the paper and attacks are coming from every quadrant of the USA. While we have no authority to tell the world what to think, the proper way to act, and/or tell them what they want, we do have the authority to live for you. When we light our light shine by the words that come out of our mouth, the actions and outcomes, the world will come to the light on its accord not ours. I pray that you will always help me to be a light in a dark place and that people will come to know you through these posts. I pray for Ukraine in the ongoing battle, the various battles that are cropping up, and the wars in our schools, our homes, and places of business. I pray for your peace and that I will be used as an instrument to quell the violence. I pray for my family, the city of Stacy, the state of Minnesota, and the USA. I pray for our legislators that you will be shaken to their core over the decisions they are about to make and have already made. I pray for the peace of the USA and the world at large.

Morning Encouragement for 6/5/2022

Good Morning,

In the time of the Kings of Israel and Judah, the men were told to write a copy of the Mosaic law for themselves and commit it to memory. The law would guide the Kings in decision-making, judgment, and care for the kingdom. As Spring gives way to Summer, many people are graduating from High School, College, preparing for marriage, and embarking on a new career. In the background are the two great commandments that would be encouraged to remember and never lose sight of.  These “Great Commandments”  are not mere words used to fill space on a page they are guiding principles by which we need to set the tone and cadence of our life. Those who are getting married soon, you will agree to the vows you right or the default read to you these also are not “mere words for an auspicious circumstance” they are promises that you will make to your spouse. If you want your marriage and life to grow and thrive you will remember these words and meditate on them so that when the trials come you will be prepared. When the dark times come, and there will be many, you will not

Readings: Matthew 22:36-40, Deuteronomy 17:18-20, John 21:15-19, Proverbs 3:13-18, Psalms 145

Father,

You are the Lord G-d above you there is none other. It was You who won the victories of my life and it was You who in my dark times guided me to safe shores. No one who has ever put their faith in you wrote your laws on the tablets of their hearts and walked in obedience ever regretted it. Today we are in the midst of dark times financially, spiritually, mentally, and physically and we need Your help. I pray for my brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus that their faith will not wane and that you will send help from the sanctuary (Psalms 20:2-5). Watch over these young men and women who are preparing to take their place in the workplace and help them to make wise decisions so that they will be a credit to You. Please Watch over those getting married and help them to always remember their vows and not abandon them. I pray for Ukraine, the people of Uvalde, and places where violence has separated family members.

Morning Encouragement for 6/4/2022

Good Morning,

When an incident, a change in the law, and/or closing of a route has no impact on us we take no concern for it and welcome the change. Consider the case of Paul being brought before the tribunal in Corinth. The case was dismissed because it didn’t concern Rome or the governor of the city. So to get revenge the Jews captured Sosthenes and beat him to death right in front of the tribune but he paid no attention to the matter (Acts 18:12-17). While this attitude certainly protects us from emotional involvement, the downside is that laws are enacted because we said nothing. While it is certainly convenient to turn a blind eye to the matter the thing is, sin never stays in a vacuum it will always affect us directly and/or indirectly. The problem is that by the time the sin indirectly affects us it is already too big to stop without reinventing the wheel and then we riot over it. For this reason, we need to pay particular attention to the condition of our homes, families, and communities. We may not have the final word but we can express our objection or support.

readings: Acts 18:12-17, Proverbs 27:24, Numbers 30

Father,

Thank you first of all for this beautiful day that you have graciously given us. I pray that I may ever be alert to what is going on in my world and that you will grant me power over my life. I pray for Ukrain, Uvalde, Oklahoma, Iowa, and many other areas that are experiencing problems. I know that relying on man’s version of peace is like trusting a piece of string to hold up heavy weights. May your good spirit guide me today and always. Morning Encouragement for 5/30/2022

Good Morning,

When an individual is known for being a “false friend” or works on both sides in a fight, he/she is called “two-faced” or a “double agent”. The Devil, as you may know, is a master at this and has had eons to hone his skills. Our best weapon against the Devil is to chose to keep lines of communication open between family members, our communities, and our world despite our differences in opinion, and disagreements. When we talk about our differences with the intention of understanding, the Devil loses a foothold because his lies will not work. Along that same vein, prayer is an  integral part of defying the Devil. In the bad times just as in the good times, we need to remember G-d’s promises and the truth about the workings of our lives. Remember this the two-faced individual plays on our minds through the voice of “reason”. I encourage you today to take a close look at the foundations of your life, establish communications with the people in your life, and never lose faith in them despite “did you hear …”.

Readings: Acts 5, Matthew 4:1-11, Luke 22:21-33.

Father,

Of all the things we need in our life today, it is “Truth” and “context”. When we lose sight of either one of these two the Devil and his minions will be footsteps away from their target. Jesus said to the people listening to him “If you stay in my word you will know the truth and the truth will set you free” (John 8:31). We are not set free because we are skilled communicators and we are not set free because of our wealth. We need you today Father more than any other time in our history. Today there are many camps of thought each at odds with the other and these are breeding grounds for war. I know that the Devil will lead people to a great war over “ideals” and lose sight of who is hurt in the process. I pray for peace in my family, my community, city, state, and nation. I pray for the Ukraine, the people of Uvalde, and our world at large. You have given me the power and the authority over the affairs of my life please help to use that power and authority with respect and dignity. Morning Encouragement for 5/29/2022

Good Morning,

When I look across the landscape of the US, I see a problem that grows in size the closer it gets to politics. When we treat things like our spiritual beliefs nonchalantly or do not take them seriously, no one else will either. In the early to late 20th century what the church said, “was golden”. Politicians and businesses sought to garner the church’s approval. From 1979 to 1989 the Moral Majority which was founded by the late Jerry Falwell was the “gold standard” of the political landscape because every politician including the DFL sought its support which in turn garnered the support of the church. Fast forward 30 some years and we see that the church is being told, “You change your ways or we won’t attend”. Those churches that were/are “numbers” driven changed and toned down the gospel until the gospel was merely a storybook and the church was little more than a “Sunday obligation” and less important than an NFL football game. The problem is, that the watering down of the message was not the work politics nor the world, it was the church membership. Consider the downfall of the nation Israel, in the time of David the nation was strong and impenetrable fast forward approximately 300 years and the nation is being exiled and afterward would fight between themselves over “what constituted the true Jewish faith”. If we do not take our salvation seriously when no one is looking, we too will fight over “what constitutes the true Christian faith”.

Readings: Matthew 17:14-20, Micah 6:6-8, 1 Chronicle 16:23-36, Psalms 4, Ecclesiastes 12:1-8

Father,

Thank you for this new day to live, work, and serve. The church and our traditions are under fire now more than ever.  I pray for my brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus that their faith may not wane nor will they become discouraged but that they would grow in your strength. I pray for strength from the sanctuary for my brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus, my families, friends, and myself that You will help us to endure the evil days, and though tested by the fire we may come through with flying colors. I pray for the people of Texas, Ukraine, and the church at large that You will send your protective angels about them, especially with those who are putting their lives on the line in Your service. I pray over the looming food shortage that our crops may grow and fill the need.
