Setting the Pathway
Good morning and welcome to the year 2020,
I have had it on my heart to set the course for my writings for the next 12 calendar months. The first passage God had me read when I became a born-again Christian was, “Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight paths for him (Mark 1:3). As you will recall, this was John’s message as prophecied in the book of Isaiah (Isaiah 40:3). This prophecy speaks to man’s responsibility to prepare for the work of God upon our life. For this reason, many are catapulted into tremendous ministries while others fail although their scholastic scores were above those who succeeded in ministry. One would think that if God called us to anything that we would naturally succeed; however, success without preparation and showing our earnest desire to do anything by the work we put into it will yield a “0” and they will be passed over.
So, what about prayer? Scripture admonishes, “And this is the boldness we have in him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have obtained the requests made of him (1 John 5:14-15 NRSV).” IF this is the case, then all we should have to do is pray and “voila we have an active ministry”. But that is not the case and people have prayed for ministries and family members and nothing happens; why? Because there is a key element to prayer and that is, preparing for whatever you are asking for. When I was in the military, I had to prepare for promotional exams; when I put no preparation into it or misused the training time, the results showed even though I had prayed for success. In the same way, whatever we want to do in life whether it be finding a spouse, retirement, or anything else we must prepare for it, or we will never go anywhere and God’s plan for our life will be delayed sometimes indefinitely.
Ok, so I have given you a taste of what will come in the next 12 calendar months and will leave it at that. I eagerly look forward to sharing with you all that is on my heart. Please continue to visit my web page http://www.mikesencouragement.net for daily bible readings and notes.
In closing, I wish all of you a very happy and prosperous New Year 2020.
Yours for the Journey
